Taking care of the baby and its nutrition and growth is exhausting, but real happiness comes with the first steps it takes. Here is a guideline on what to expect regarding your baby’s growth in its first year.
Sitting up:
At the age of 5-6 months, the baby can sit up supported by a pillow, or by leaning against a parent's hand. At the age of 7-9 months, the baby can sit up without assistance.
Crawling:
While most babies can crawl using their hands and feet at the age of 9 months, others prefer to scoot until they learn to stand. This is not a general rule; some babies can walk without going through the crawling step.
Standing:
Babies can walk without assistance at the age of 12 months. Weeks before that, they begin to stand and move leaning against a wall or a piece of furniture, and then they gradually do it without needing this support.
Do not worry if your baby is a few weeks behind with walking. There are individual differences among toddlers.
Walking:
Babies can stand and walk anytime between the age of 9 months and 17 months. At the age of 13 months, most toddlers can walk a few steps.
Always make sure to take photographs of the first steps and movements your baby takes. Do not forget that there are individual differences among children. Do not worry if your baby does them later than its peers. Just monitor its growth and follow-up with a specialized doctor to make sure everything is ok on regular basis.
