Tips to Manage Your Time with Your Baby

Tips to Manage Your Time with Your Baby

Is your baby keeping you on your toes? Taking care of your little one around the clock can be exhausting. Nothing is predictable and you can’t set a particular duration or time for any task. If getting stuff done seems impossible when your little one is around, here some tips that will give you a wiggle room to get more stuff done.

Spend Time with Your Baby

Make him your priority. Making sure that all his needs are fulfilled will save you much time and will eliminate distraction while doing other stuff.

Spending enough time with your baby builds the bond between both of you and will make him less clingy when you sink your teeth into a particular task.

Set a particular period of time to spend with your child every day and if he’s able to express what he wants, let him choose how he’d like to spend that time with you.

Manage Your Priorities

Brainstorm and write down everything that needs to get done.

Set first things first and set a duration for every task.

Eat the frog and Start with the least ones you like that are still important to finish.

The 80/20 Rule

Most of the tasks that you have will fall into two categories:

•    80% that consume most of the time but are of least importance

•    20% that consume the least amount of time but they are the most important.

Try to find out creative ways to get that 80% done fast. For example, delegating tasks to other people, using tools or machines that will save time, and so on.

Focus your effort and time on those 20% tasks and put them in your priority.

Define Your Einstein Window

Scientifically everyone has a duration of time throughout the day when you're most productive. That is called the Einstein window when you’re active both physically and mentally.

This can be a time when your baby is asleep and your spouse is running errands.

Protect your Einstein window and set that time for priorities. Eliminate distractions and avoid doing anything but this task that needs your total attention.

Avoid Multitasking

When starting a task finish it completely before thinking of a new one. Don’t interrupt yourself to do something hoping that you’ll get back to finish off what you’ve started.

Cut back on electronics. Turn off the TV. keep smartphones and laptops away.

Make Time for Yourself

Put your own needs in the schedule. Things like working out, improving your passion skill, preparing a favorite meal or hanging out with friends…etc.

And now after you’ve known techniques to finish your work, let’s lay back and have some coffee…

What are some ideas you’ve tried out that worked to manage your daily tasks?
