Potty training your little one is one of the challenges mothers face during their journey. Until that day comes it’ll take some patience and sustainability until the baby is able to be independent and say goodbye to diapers.
The Suitable Time For Potty Training
There is no difference between a boy or a girl when it comes to the right time. The baby should be physically and emotionally ready to use the potty. Most children are ready anywhere between 22-30 months of age. Getting the baby to use his potty way earlier than expected will make the process complicated and frustrating.
If the baby refuses to use the potty, it’s advised to not force him into it, and to wait for a while then come back.
Signs That the Baby is Ready to Train
The child must be able to control his bladder and bowel muscles. The child is ready when he is having his bowel movement at the same time every day.
Not having bowel movements during sleeping, and keeping the diaper dry during a 2-hour nap are signs that he is ready. The child should also have learned to climb, talk, take off his clothes as long as some motor skills.
Signs That the Child is Ready to Use the Toilet on His Own
Girls usually learn faster than boys. You can say that the child is ready when he knows on his own that it’s time to go to the bathroom. When he can climb and sit on the toilet alone or with little help.
The average time is around 3 months. The child might need a little help to clean himself when he is 4-5 years. He might also need some help in unfamiliar toilets like public toilets when he is 5-6 years old.
Potty training should be an interesting experience for the child. It shouldn’t be a battle. If the child refuses to train give him some time and wait for a while.
