Winter Baby Must Haves

Winter Baby Must Haves
The winter is about to arrive. If you have a newborn, you’ll need to get his items ready as early as possible. You might be wondering what you should include in the baby items’ checklist. Here is a simple checklist that will help you remember most of your baby’s needs in the winter.

Blanket
You’ll need more than one to keep a spare one in case it gets dirty. The light covers that we use in the summer won’t provide the warmth newborns need in the winter. Choose a heavy blanket that keeps his body warm and comfortable.

Sweater
Pick the ones that are soft and easy to take off. The number you need depends on how often you go outdoors. If you’re a working mother that takes her baby every day to his grandmother or a nursery, you’ll need a lot of them.

Long-Sleeved Bodysuits
How many you should buy depends on the baby’s habits. For instance, a baby that poos less often keeps his clothes clean for a longer time.
If you’re confused you might want to buy a couple of suits for each day of the week.

Cap, Mittens, Socks
Many people ignore them. Make sure to have them ready in your baby’s wardrobe. You’ll need more than a pair of mittens as the baby suckles his finger and the mittens get wet soon.

Home wear
Store 2 PJs for each day. You might need more or less depending on your estimation.

Sunscreen
Even though the weather is cold, your baby will need to apply sunscreen in case he gets outdoors or exposed to the sun.
In some countries, the weather is hot most of the year, so the baby will need to be protected all the time.

Moisturizers and lotions
The skin is more likely to get drier in the winter. So, your little one will need to be moisturized after each shower or when you see signs of dryness on his skin

Medical kit
Babies get common colds more frequently in the winter than adults. You’ll need to keep medications for common colds, fevers.

Baby health kit:
  • Baby thermometer
  • Medicine Dropper
  • Bulb syringe/ nasal aspirator
  • Saline nasal drops (AAP-approved in place of a cough and cold medicine)
  • Infant Acetaminophen (brand name Tylenol, safe after 12 weeks).

In case your baby shows any signs that he’s sick, contact your pediatrician right away.

And there you have it, the most basic items your baby will need in the winter, now it’s your turn to get ready for the winter.
