Diaper rash is common among babies and newborns. It appears as red and tender-looking skin in the diaper area. Here is a guide of how to prevent it once and for all.
First: Know The Triggers
Prolonged contact with stool or urine: this can happen due to changing diaper less frequently, or due to change in the bowel movement like diarrhea.
Friction: Rubbing against the diaper.
Infection: because the diaper area is warm and moist, it's a good media for bacteria and yeast.
New foods: the stool changes when the food and the type of nutrition changes. This can happen due to either responding to introducing new solids or due to something the mother ate which got into the mother's milk.
Sensitive skin: in this case you might notice that the baby has eczema in other parts of the body.
Antibiotics: even though antibiotics kill bacteria, it might kill useful ones that keep the yeast infection from growing.
