Sunburns can be harmful and painful to many people rather than damaging too many skin cells, which can lead to serious cases of skin cancer.
However in babies, symptoms can be more serious. Therefore, parents should follow some guidelines to avoid these symptoms.
Keep the baby in the shade
Babies should not be exposed to direct sunlight for a long time.
Try to avoid the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation between 10 AM and 4 PM.
A baby stroller with a canopy would temporarily protect the baby from the sun, if you have to go out during these hours .
Sun-Safe Clothing
You can also protect your child by choosing the right clothing; use lightweight, long-sleeved gowns in light colors to avoid exposing the skin to the sun as much as possible. Do not forget to protect your baby's eyes and face with a hat.
Road Safety
If you are traveling by car, keep your baby centered in the back seat, furthest from both side windows, or put car curtains inside the car to prevent sun rays from sneaking inside. Provide your baby with water on the road.
Using Sunscreen
One sun protection method for babies is using sunscreen, but it should not be used for babies under 6 months old. Consult your doctor to determine the optimal type of sunproof for your baby.
