You made it to the last month of the second trimester. Mothers can experience more tiredness and feel more anxious to see their baby. Here is what to expect when you are six months pregnant.
Week Twenty-Two
The baby's muscles grew stronger and the baby can now move its eyelids and eyebrows.
The uterus is still expanding and the mother no longer suffers morning sickness but the feet swelling and the leg cramps might still persist.
Week Twenty-Three
The baby's skin is still wrinkly and the body hair turns darker.
The mother's weight gain reaches 6-7kgs. Some mothers may have clear or yellowish vaginal discharge. If those secretions have an unusual odor, it is recommended to get checked to rule out vaginal infections.
Should you feel backaches, put warm pads on your back and lie down and relax. Consider getting a massage.
Keep your skin moisturized to avoid itchiness and dry skin.
Week Twenty-Four
The white blood cells begin to form. The baby responds to your sound and touch. The weight gain picks up a faster pace now and all the way to week eighteen. At this point, the father will be able to hear the baby's heartbeats, if he puts his ear on the mother's abdomen.
Week Twenty-Five
The baby's skin is no longer see-through. The mother may experience some symptoms, including constipation, bleeding, indigestion, and heartburn. Consult your doctor to prescribe you the appropriate remedies.
Week Twenty-Six
The hearing has fully developed now and the baby interacts to sounds. The baby develops a sleeping and waking pattern.
The baby's continuous movement should be a reassuring sign to the mother. The mother, however, may feel that her ribs are painful as a result of the uterus upwards pressure. This pressure may cause indigestion and heartburn. The uterus expansion can also cause pain in the mother's sides.
