Have you completed your third month of pregnancy? Noticing weight gain? Felt any slight movements in your womb yet? Here is everything you need to know about your fourth month of pregnancy.
Week Fourteen:
The ears are now in the right position, the neck is longer and the chin is taking shape. The baby responds to outside stimuli.
Mothers will need maternity clothes at this point. You may get constipated as the hormones cause the muscles of the intestines to relax.
Week Fifteen:
Fine hair starts to grow on the baby's skin. The eyebrows and hair also start to grow. The bones grow harder and the baby may start sucking its thumb.
During this time, you will need to ask your doctor about the tests required for this period and before labor.
Sleeping on the left side boosts better blood circulation.
Week Sixteen:
You can now hear your baby's heartbeats. A little hair grows on its head. It can move its limbs. The nervous system is now functional.
Week Seventeen:
The fetus size has doubled in the past two weeks. Fats begin to form, aiding the baby's metabolism. The amniotic fluid is expelled from the lungs by way of exhaling. The circulatory and urinary systems are now functional. The eyebrows and lashes become denser.
The abdomen becomes larger and pregnancy shows more obviously. A weight gain of 2-5kgs is noticed. The appetite may grow. Move slowly when you get up from bed or when you wake up to avoid dizziness. If you feel dizzy, lie down for a brief moment.
The second pregnancy trimester is quite different than the first. Some symptoms appear, while others disappear. Monitor these changes month by month to learn what you need to do at each stage.
