Choosing the Perfect Crib for Your Baby

Choosing the Perfect Crib for Your Baby
Your baby will surely spend a big part of its day sleeping.  That is why the baby crib is one of the most important furniture pieces you have to shop for.   The crib has to be safe, and  to ensure this, you need to take the following points into consideration:

The distance in between the crib bars should be no more than 6 cm.
The mattress should be firm and fitting perfectly in the crib with no space between the crib wall and the mattress.
The distance between the top of the rail and top of the mattress should be at least 65 cm.
Avoid cribs with drop rails as they can be hazardous.
Footboard and headboard should be solid.  Avoid cribs that contain decorations on its internal wall.
Avoid cribs that contain bumpers.  Although bumpers are added to provide safety for baby yet they can cause suffocation. Besides, when the baby gets older, it can climb on it out of the crib.
Do not place large toys and stuffed animals inside the crib. Also avoid pillows and heavy blankets.
The perfect place for a crib is to be away from any window or air conditioner. Also be aware of any nearby curtains as it can pull it.
When your baby is 90 cm tall, you should switch him to a bed.  Place a mattress on the floor just beside the bed to protect him should he fall.
Do not let your baby sleep on waterbeds, pillows, or any chairs.
