Child Proof Your House and Keep Your Baby Safe

When your baby is mobile and can do stuff on his own, keeping him safe becomes a burden. The following tips should keep your little one away from harm from the first day of his life through his toddler years.

 

In the Car

Always use car seats that are Approved to be used.

Read instructions very well to install the car seat and to place your baby the right way.

Avoid putting him on your lap while you ride.

Place your baby so that he faces the rear of the vehicle.

Put him in the back seat, if the car doesn’t have a back seat, like a van or so, disable the airbags, as they’re dangerous for babies.

Lock the car doors, and trunk through the child lock that exists in almost all cars.

 

Baby Falls

Place the carrycot on the floor. Never on tabletops and always make sure he’s strapped

Never leave babies on a couch or a bed without supervision.

Place furniture against the wall so that the pieces don’t fall over while the child climbs on them or fall on him while he’s playing around.

 

In the Bathroom

Safety latches should be installed on all drawers to keep babies away from swallowing poisonous materials and detergents.

Store medication away from the reach of children. Always keep them back in place after using.

Toilet locks should be installed on the toilet seat

Unplug hair dryers and all electronics and keep them out of the reach of your baby.

Cover unused electric outlets.

 

Around the House

Safety gates: if you have stairs inside the house keep safety gates on both sides of the stair.

Install locks on rooms with hazards, such as bathrooms, kitchens, swimming pools.

Place furniture away from windows. Kids always tend to climb chairs to look through the window.

Secure the pieces of furniture that are attached to the wall like shelves and avoid storing heavy stuff on them.

 

And there you have it! The most important safety measures that you can do to keep your baby safe. And generally always keep babies in mind while you are installing or purchasing stuff for your house.
